The entire gameplay loop of Clash Royale LDPlayer is fast, energetic, very tactical and because of the presence of generous in-game shop, at times geared more toward premium players. The game was originally launched with 48 cards separated in Common, Rare, Epic rarities, with regular expansions introducing new cards, rarities, ability to level up cards, purchasable emote decks, and trade tokens.

The card deck consists of just 8 cards, which users can pick before the start of the match from the currently available card pool.

The gameplay involves activating card spells (who can summon troops, structures, or fire magical spells), which require an appropriate number of elixirs to be played. In addition to regular solo or duo play, Clash Royale also supports clans (with space for up to 50 players) and Clan Wars, where five clans battle with each other for the ultimate prize of rare chest items and war bounties.
